This 12 year old was distillery at the Lochnagar distillery, once visited by Queen Victoria when she was staying at nearby Balmoral.
Aroma & Taste: Aroma of planed wood, light toffee, boat varnish. Linseed oil behind, even putty, and later a lychee-like acidity. With water the acidity comes through (acid drops), and the nose sweetens. Medium-bodied. The palate is pleasant with an initial sweetness, which is quickly overtaken by acidity. Dry; medium-length, with an attractive lingering sandalwood aftertaste.
