Sure, tequila is most popular for being consumed in shot glasses, preluded by a lick of salt and followed up by some lime.
But there are other ways to enjoy the Mexican traditional drink, too! It’s time we test out just how much this liquor can bring life to the party.
Whether it’s tequila or mezcal, the correct mixers incorporated will create an array of tasty cocktails which are perfect for the hot summer days.
Fiesta or siesta, pick up a bottle of tequila and try out these recipes for yourself!
1. Tequila sunrise
Who doesn’t want the sunrise in a glass? That’s where this drink comes into play.
Create your own daybreak masterpiece by following this tequila cocktail recipe. What ingredients go in a tequila sunrise?
For this drink, you’ll need:
- Blanco tequila
- Grenadine
- Triple sec
- Fresh orange juice
- Fresh lemon juice
First, add in your grenadine to a tall glass for that vibrant sunrise red. Then, add everything else into a cocktail shaker with ice.
Shake it all up, then remove the ice and place them into the tall glass, followed by straining the liquid into the glass.
When pouring the drink into the tall glass, do it gently so that you don’t muddle the colour of the grenadine at the bottom.
Before stirring, take a picture of the sunrise-like gradient in your glass! For garnish, top off the glass with a tiny umbrella and a cherry.

3. Long Island iced tea
Is the Long Island iced tea safe for minors to consume? As you may have well guessed by now, the answer is no!
It’s not actually iced tea; it’s one of the strongest cocktails out there, and we’re not even sure whether we can fully call this a strictly tequila cocktail!
Make a jug of Long Island iced tea at your next gathering and have people pour out however much they would like.
Make your own Long Island iced tea with:
- Reposado tequila
- London dry gin
- Vanilla vodka
- Rum
- Lime juice
- Triple sec
- Cola
- Ice
Yup, that’s a whole lot of liquor! So this goes without saying that you should be careful with the ratios here.
Mix up all the liquors in a jug, then add triple sec and lime juice. Throw in a good amount of ice and stir. Last, add in the cola and stir again.
