By : Hombo Mars
Mars Shinshu might not be the largest whisky distillery in Japan, but it more than makes up for its size with its elegance and grace. The Mars Whisky Komagatake is a new version of their famous single malt. It was aged in Sherry and American Oak Casks.
|Aroma||White chocolate cookies with spicy cinnamon, tart apple sauce and a lemon twist. As it sits, more sherry influence appears, with sugary raisins, dried orange peel and sweet pastry up front, and a dark and brooding background of liquorice and stewed plums hiding behind.|
|Finish||Initially sweet, with stewed apples and runny honey, but turning to fresh herbal notes of mint and menthol as it fades.|
|Palate||Sweet and thick to start, with sugar syrup, vanilla sauce and sticky Eccles-cake raisins mixed with hot cinnamon and nutmeg. It calms down after the initial intensity, with gentle fruitiness balanced by toasted spiced fruit loaf.|
